Frequently Asked Questions
What is Subwave?
Subwave is a publishing platform for people who have a craft, a passion, or a hobby they want to share. Publish video, audio, and written posts to your own channel and reach your audience directly. It's a slower, smaller, more deliberate place for thoughtful content, with no recommendation algorithm and no ads. You own your work and you own your audience.
Why Subwave?
We want to give creators better tools to make engaging work and build strong communities, without ads or an algorithm getting in the way. We also think Europe needs platforms that genuinely care about data ownership and privacy. Your data is stored and processed in the EU, under European privacy law, and it's never sold.
Do I own my content?
Yes, completely. You keep full ownership of everything you upload or publish, and you're never locked in. You can export your subscriber list whenever you want, so you can always take your audience with you. Your content stays yours, and we only take the limited rights we need to host and deliver it.
How is Subwave different from other platforms?
No engagement algorithm decides who sees your work, and no ads compete for attention. Your posts reach the people who chose to follow you, in the order you published them. You keep your audience data and build a direct relationship with your subscribers, and we never track you with advertising cookies or sell your data.
What can I publish on Subwave?
Video, audio, and written posts, plus short clips. Upload a video, share a podcast episode, or write an article. Subwave can automatically transcribe your audio and video and add captions, so your work is easier to follow and to find.
How do my subscribers get my content?
However suits them best. They can follow you on the web or in the Subwave app, get your new posts by email, or add your channel's RSS or podcast feed to their favorite player. You publish once, and it reaches them wherever they already are.
Can I earn money on Subwave?
Yes. You can offer paid subscriptions to your channel, set monthly or yearly prices, and choose which posts are free, which are for subscribers, and which are for paying subscribers only. You keep the large majority of what people pay, and payouts are handled securely through Stripe.
What platforms does Subwave support?
Subwave works on the web, on iOS, and on Android. Some features arrive on one platform before the others, so a few things may look a little different depending on where you're using it.
