An intimate listening session exploring Rosalía's Lux album on vinyl, highlighting standout tracks and why the physical format makes all the difference.
I've been spinning Rosalía's Lux constantly since getting my hands on the vinyl, and I needed to share this listening experience with you. This album was definitely one of my favorites from last year, and there's something about hearing it on wax that just hits different.
Let me start by saying: Rosalía is an incredible artist. An incredible singer. I already have Motomami in my collection—which I think I like a little bit more, honestly—and I went to that concert tour. It was just a vibe. Now I'm seeing her again in April here in Amsterdam, and I'm extremely excited. But today, we're focusing on Lux.
The packaging overall is beautiful. Extremely pretty. The whole presentation of this vinyl is something special, and it comes on crystal clear vinyl, which is kind of cool as well.
The first song that I really like to play... overall, all of them are good, but for me, "Reliquia" really makes me feel like that's the start of the album. The first track is definitely a good intro, but when I start really paying attention to what the album is, it's when "Reliquia" comes up.
Her voice is beautiful. Her voice is just beautiful. There's this piano that plays softly, but my favorite part is when you can hear the flip of the song—even the flip of the page—and it just goes into this mad place. It's beautiful.
That part where it just goes mental, that's when I start dancing.
Very, very good.
The next one that I love is "Divinize." I don't even know how to pronounce it sometimes, but it's beautiful. Very, very good. Definitely, I listen to it on digital and then I play the vinyl—it sounds so different. I would really recommend getting the vinyl.
Okay, now I think this might be my favorite song of the album: "La Perla." I'm Mexican, so when I hear this song, it makes me feel like I've definitely heard songs like this before. And it's just nice to sing it out loud. It has so much power and it's like... I don't know, there's something pretty about singing it out loud. It's beautiful.
The main single, the first single, was "Berghain" (I don't know if I'm saying it right, sorry), but I think it was an interesting choice. It's not my favorite song of the album, but it is cool. Very cool. It definitely introduces you to what the album could be. The whole thing is mad. Love it.
When I got this vinyl, I didn't know that she put extra songs on the vinyl that were not on digital, which is kind of cool. I didn't get to listen to them until I actually got the vinyl physical in my hands.
There's one that I actually quite like: "Dios es un stalker." It's kind of cool. It does add an extra verse that is not in digital. I appreciate that, and I kind of respect that in some way.
It's a shame she didn't include some of these tracks in the digital release, but I like listening to them here.
Another one that I really like is "Fokurani," which is not on digital. It just sounds beautiful. Why not include it on the digital? But I like listening to it here.
"Novia Robot" is interesting. Don't love it, but I do love how it just ends with "Magnolias." Just such a beautiful way to end the album. Just like a very nice ballad. You're kind of just let go. And it's just beautiful, beautiful. That's how it ends.
I have no real criteria, and I really don't know how to review albums, but me personally? I love this album. I will give it a 9. A solid 9. Yeah, a solid nine. You know what, Motomami has a 9.5 for me. This is a solid nine. It's still great. I love what she's done before, but again, this is just a beautiful level.
So yeah, that's Lux by Rosalía. Go get it—especially on vinyl.
