I had a baby a month ago and reading has taken a back seat with very little patience for getting through a series I’m not fully enjoying.
A month of silence on a book channel is suspicious. A month of silence plus a newborn is completely understandable.
I had a baby about a month ago, and somewhere in my pre-birth optimism I genuinely believed I would be reading more than ever. Quiet feeding sessions, sleepy afternoons. It turns out that is actually harder than I thought it would be, my brain is scattered. So the reading has stalled.
The book on pause is ACOTAR — the series everyone seems to love. I've been working through it, and I do like the world. The world-building is genuinely good, and several of the characters have me interested. My problem is Feyre.
I don't like the main character, I don’t like Feyre.
When a protagonist grates on you, the whole series starts to feel like a sentence. I'm struggling to push through purely because Feyre annoys me so much.
So I'm going to pause on ACOTAR and find something a little more enriching. The series isn't going anywhere. Maybe I come back to it, maybe I don't. But the urge to read is still very much there, and feeding it with a book I'm actually enjoying seems smarter than grinding through one I'm not.
Thanks for following along, and sorry for the quiet spell. More reading updates soon, once there's actually something to update.
